Here`s what people are saying about Green End House.
Wonderfully relaxing and welcoming place to stay. Fantastic location with amazing views and a 5 minute walk to Hawkshead with 4 pubs. The breakfast was simply brilliant and Paul went out of his way to accommodate us. The room was spacious with the most comfortable bed! Paul is a great host who was friendly and informative especially advising on the best places to visit and eat at. We took our bikes and Paul provided us with access to a lockable garage to store them. The star of the show is Lola who is definitely in charge! We are looking forward to returning next year for another great few days in the Lakes.

We arrived at Green End House mid afternoon with two slightly grumpy children (aged 2 and 4) after a long car journey and were greeted with a very warm welcome from Paul, stunning views of the countryside and the beautiful house which is set in the heart of the picturesque Lake District. Paul made us feel immediately at home and our sons instantly adored Lola (Paul's dog) who was great with them during our stay. That afternoon we joined Paul and Lola on a walk around the woods near to the house which was beautiful and Paul gave us some great local info about where to eat/visit/bike during our stay which was really useful.
Inside the house is spacious, comfortable and clean and full of interesting art and collectables. We found the bedroom layout worked really well for us having children as they were close by to us but also far enough away that we could all enjoy a good night's sleep. Our room had beautiful views over the front garden and landscape beyond as did our sons room next door. Both rooms were spacious and our room had a good size en-suite and the comfiest bed I've ever slept in! Next door it was an ideal setup for our young sons with a single bed plus an extra pull out bed for the younger one. They both slept incredibly well. Paul provides towels and there's also tea and coffee facilities in the room. We found the TV worked well with Google Chromecast too.
Downstairs you have your own sitting room which was lovely and cosy (Paul lit the fire for us one rainy evening) and opposite that is the dining room where Paul provided a great breakfast every morning. This was also a good time to chat to Paul and find out anything you need to know about where to go or things to do. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he always made us feel incredibly welcome. At no point did it feel like we were staying in someone else's home and we couldn't relax. If you're travelling alone, as a couple or with children then Green End House is ideal.
Nearby Hawkshead is only a 10 minute walk away and has all the essentials (3 decent pubs, a co-op, gift shops etc) and is a stunning little village. We found it very handy for evening meals with the children and a walk around before bedtime. (In particular the Star Inn was good for family meals and had an extensive gin menu which we enjoyed sampling!)
Overall we loved our stay at Green End House and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Paul was a fabulous host and we will hopefully be back next year!

We had a great time at Green End House. The house is lovely with beautiful views over the hills and just a short walk to Hawkshead for dinner in one of the four pubs. The bed is really comfy and the guest lounge is great. Paul cooks a great breakfast and is really helpful, giving plenty of tips for things to do. Our favourites were a swim in a nearby tarn and mountain biking at Grizedale. Thanks Paul for a great stay in the Lake District

My family had an amazing stay in Paul's home, a large and cosy bedroom, his lovely Laula and a nice view around his house. Paul was very helpful to recommend the visiting spots for us around the lake district. We were also delighted to be invited to Paul's BBQ dinner, lovely :-). We love the Lake area and the place we stayed in Paul's home.

“Peaceful and relaxing. A great B&B in a lovely position with a host who cares.” The room was spacious and well furnished. The bed was very comfortable to the point that we didn't want to leave it for an early morning run. The situation of the house meant that there was no noise during the night......bliss! Oh, and the shower was great with enough room that you didn't bump elbows. Breakfasts were really good and nothing seemed too much bother for Paul, the host. And, if you don't want all your bacon, Lola is happy to help out!

Paul was an excellent host. We arrived especially late due to getting lost. I would suggest you have daylight to navigate roads as they can be narrow. Paul had dinner ready for us since we arrived so late and didn't have time to stop. We were a party of three women so we stayed in two bedrooms and shared a bath. Beds were very comfortable. And the views from the rooms were amazing. Breakfast was very good too. It is a beautiful historic home in a lovely setting.

We were looking for a quick overnight recharge and Paul was a superb host. Bed is extremely comfortable and room is quiet. The view from the window is worth the trip alone. Paul could have not been more helpful, providing a light-touch warmth that meant we could check-in quickly and begin relaxing. Breakfast is lovely and highly-convivial. We will be back!

My husband and I have just returned from staying five nights at Green End House. Paul is a fantastic host and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He was really helpful in providing us with his recommendations for places to eat and find a good beer, including places in Hawkshead which is a convenient 10 minutes walk away. He also suggested some good walks from the house, which we enjoyed. The house is lovely and all the rooms, including the bedroom, have glorious views of the countryside and beyond towards Esthwaite. The room was large and the comfy bed with crisp white linen. The breakfast Paul provided was delicious and perfect to set you up for a walking day ahead. Nothing was too much trouble and Paul made every effort to make our stay a home away from home.

BEST PLACE TO STAY EVER! A total hidden gem. From booking to leaving you will feel completely spoilt... Paul's house is set in the most beautiful English countryside of the Lake District, the only noise you will hear is from some sheep in a nearby field. When you arrive the house and views literally take your breath away and I am a fairly seasoned traveller who grew up in a beautiful village in Kent. The photos do NOT do it justice. The room is HUGE, gorgeous, luxury bedding and all the touches as spoilt girl like me appreciates. Fluffy towels, good size TV and enough space to put your things. Paul was brilliant and helpful when planning our trip and we were lucky enough to be collected and dropped back to the local village to meet our connections by him. My friend and I came up to compete in the Great North Swim and he was so kind, as the buses didn't run first thing he dropped us to the event at 7.30 in the morning and collected us again afterwards which was a lifesaver. Total lifesaver. Thoroughly lovely man. He cooked us supper the night before which was DELICIOUS and after our swim we came back to an incredible breakfast. Lots of hot water, everything you need in a country stay. A trip to Pauls will be the absolute highlight of any trip, I am yet to beat it.
